June 4,2009 <br /> Stabilizing flows of the San Antonio River,thus keeping all possible water within the Basin <br /> Demonstrating the wise use of water resources to support the Basin's agricultural economy <br /> Optimizing the natural hydrology of flood irrigation to replenish the Basin's aquifer <br /> Promoting efficiencies which directly reduce Rio Grande Compact curtailments <br /> Protecting from loss of Basin water which would otherwise bypass the Los Sauces gauge <br /> Defending senior water rights of five generations of farmers who depend on surface irrigation <br /> Improving agricultural profitability and discouraging the selling of water rights for financial gain <br /> Preparing a historic ditch company to more adequately adapt to changing supply and demand <br /> Giving needed operational flexibility so as to meet future uncertainties of water supply <br /> Promoting in-basin storage and water quality <br /> PHASE I- Spring,2009 <br /> TASK 1—Mobilization <br /> Description of Task - Mobilize equipment and facilitate access to proposed job site.Clear <br /> debris and obstacles in access-road approach to river and fill in ruts with gravel. <br /> Mobilize 50 cu yds of rock from source location ten miles from project site in Antonito. Rock <br /> meets specifications per NRCS engineering drawings for J-Hook installation. Quarry rock <br /> donated by ditch shareholder. In-kind value= $35/ton x 75 tons=$2,625 <br /> Equipment- Excavator and Dump truck, 15 cu yd capacity <br /> Method/Procedure—Mobilization shall include all activities and associated costs for <br /> transportation of contractor's personnel,equipment,and operating supplies to the site following <br /> NRCS specifications for mobilization and environmental guidelines. This work includes <br /> mobilization required by the contract at the time of award. If additional mobilization activities <br /> and costs are required during the performance of the contract as a result of changed, deleted,or <br /> added items of work for which the contractor is entitled to an adjustment in contract price, <br /> compensation for such costs will be included in the price adjustment for the item or items of <br /> work changed or added. <br /> Deliverable—This work was completed according to Phase I in Project proposal with no <br /> additional mobilization activities or costs required. The roadway was cleared for equipment <br /> access and the boulders and rocks were set in place ready for the next task. <br /> TASK 2—Shaping of River <br /> Description of Task—Stabilize main channel flows in preparation for Phase II construction. <br /> Equipment—Excavator <br /> Method/Procedure—Restore integrity of main channel with excavator and redistribute material to <br /> recreate natural channel flow.Reslope and stabilize bank. Fill in erosion point on SW corner of <br /> riverbed.Install root wad structures for habitat. Temporarily clear streambed of obstructions and <br /> debris in anticipation of future work. Clear gravel away from the diversion structures. Stabilize <br /> streambanks and improve the condition of the riverbed sufficiently to minimize channel <br /> movement until Phase II begins. Increase the depth-to-width ratio of the channel in anticipation <br /> of high flows this spring and in preparation for construction in Phase 11. <br /> El Codo Ditch Company 2 Updated Statement of Work <br />
