Table 2 shows that the summer flow recommendation of 12.9 cfs is available at least 50% of the
time for the month of April 1st through July 31St. The winter flow recommendation of 7.7 cfs is
available at least 50% of the time from (August 1st—November 14th and March et—March 31st)
Based on water availability, the winter recommendation was further reduced to 6.5 cfs for the
time period of November 15th—February 29th
Precipitation Data
Staff reviewed a local precipitation data set from one site located around the Smith Fork
Gunnison Drainage (see Precipitation Data in Appendix C). Table 3 shows the water year and
the percent of average precipitation recorded at each site. It is staff's opinion that the 60 years of
stream-flow data analyzed is representative of average water-years.
Table 3: Precipitation Data as a percentage of Average
Elevation=5690
Lat 38 52 00
Long 107 35 00
Year Paonia 1SW
1957 50%
1958 88%
1959 87%
1960 86%
1961 108%
1962 103%
1963 102%
1964 115%
1965 136%
1966 89%
1967 91%
1968 100%
1969 110%
1970 130%
1971 119%
1972 75%
1973 Not Available
1974 77%
1975 61%
1976 57%
1977 64%
1978 Not Available
1979 100%
1980 111%
1981 106%
1982 107%
1983 130%
- 5 -
