remaining CPW land and the Bureau of Reclamation boundaries.
The Animas-La Plata Project cost approximately $500 million. The 120,000
acre foot Lake Nighthorse is for the following purpose, "to implement the
Settlement Act by providing the Ute Tribes an assured long term water supply and
water acquisition fund in order to satisfy the tribes' senior water right claims as
quantified in the Settlement Act, and to provide for M and I water needs in the
project area." Construction officially ended in March 2013 and the project status
was changed to maintenance. Currently, the Bureau of Reclamation and the City
of Durango are working on a recreation plan.
