<br /> Reallocation is the assignment of the use of existing storage space in a reservoir project to a higher and better
<br /> use. The Corps is authorized to reallocate existing flood storage space to municipal and other water supply
<br /> uses under the Water Supply Act of 1958. Congress specifically authorized the Corps in cooperation with
<br /> the Colorado Department of Natural Resources to conduct a reallocation study for Chatfield Reservoir under
<br /> the Water Resources Development Act of 1986. The Metropolitan Water Supply Investigation,begun in
<br /> 1993, recommended investigating reallocation within Chatfield for water supply purposes. Work began on
<br /> this project in 1994. The project has broad support from a diverse coalition of upstream and downstream
<br /> water entities, instream interests, and from all nine members of Colorado's Congressional Delegation.
