Other Values - Regional identity; lots of association<>SJC &UPC; commerce corridor, Durango river, sense of place, defining feature (to Silverton), mining,past & current identity • big horn sheep -Animas Canyon(comes under later wildlife discussion) • "other values"category should be at the end of discussion as a catch all 3. Water Quality • some improvement has happened, but still a problem • aware that portions have impaired water quality values under state standards ▪ plan is in place,but will we get there? ▪ parts have TMDL, therefore not listed on State 303(d) impaired waters list • legally qualified to be WSR • does quality disqualify WSR designation(Q to recognize) - Is this the issue? • data available • [28 TMDL]? • how are we looking at quality? what is the purpose of water quality questions? ▪ irrigation, drinking . . . • biological community: concern • quality: get it back to as natural a state of quality as possible • natural pollution issues vs. manmade - challenging • is process in place now good enough • For all categories, Is the water adequate for protecting the values we're trying to protect? Are other actions needed? Important 2nd phase question.
