Linda Bassi participated by phone. <br /> Stream Sweep/Inventory for Reach of Animas River above Baker's Bridge to the <br /> Headwaters on all tributaries: Committee began with mainstem Animas River <br /> 1. Outstandingly Remarkable Values(ORVs) as presented in EIS for USFS/BLM <br /> Plan Revision in the Suitability Designation Process Section <br /> ▪ Is the Train an ORV? <br /> • see train and see scenery from train. <br /> ▪ Train experience worth protecting <br /> • canyon as a whole <br /> • train and river <br /> • forest <br /> • train=history <br /> • canyon and scenic values themselves <br /> • scenery is subjective <br /> • rafting/kayaking <br /> • some stretches of Animas may not have the listed ORVs. Do ORVs pertain to <br /> entire reach? <br /> • How to define reach and segments. Should sweeps by segment or entire reach? <br /> Decided to just start with entire reach. <br /> ▪ amount of land/forest on either side of stream w/ORVs = 1/4 mile under legal <br /> WSR designation(outside of WSR Act where draw the line?) Definition? <br /> • mostly forest except 1%slivers of private land <br /> • train ROW- exclusive ROW if train in use even though on USFS land <br /> • SWSI list is not complete or static <br />
