quality standards for all segments as the standards and classifications triennial review <br /> recommended goal: Upper Colorado River period. <br /> Segment 03 -protection of primary contact <br /> recreation and cold water aquatic life(5 CCR Factor Goal:Maintain state water quality <br /> 1002-33). GCSMP identified the following standards. If the water quality is shown to be <br /> constituents as being important indicators of degrading since the WQCD triennial review, <br /> the health of stream habitat along the Colorado evaluate possible management activities to <br /> River: DO,pH,turbidity,nitrates,nitrites, address the problem. <br /> phosphorus,chloride,ammonia,manganese, <br /> iron and copper. <br /> Goal:Maintain state water quality standards. <br /> D. Monitoring Data Collection and Review <br /> 1. First x(5)years:The SG committee will gather and review annual monitoring <br /> data as described above. These data will be used to describe and track the ORVs and <br /> Factors and to adjust the targets and goals,if necessary. Data will be documented and <br /> summarized by the SG committee in an annual Monitoring Report that will be <br /> submitted to the BLM. The annual report should,at a minimum, include the following: <br /> a. Sampling locations <br /> b.Methods used <br /> c.Results <br /> d. Evaluation of data relative to target ranges <br /> e. Identification of problems or conditions affecting the ORV <br /> f. Recommendations of additional management activities,if needed,to protect <br /> the ORV <br /> 2. Subsequent monitoring:The SG committee will gather monitoring data as <br /> described above. Data will be provided to the BLM in the annual Monitoring Report. <br /> 3. Annual Monitoring Meeting: The SG committee and BLM will review <br /> monitoring data at an annual meeting and determine whether targets are met <br /> sufficiently to protect ORVs; whether additional monitoring parameters should be <br /> evaluated; whether additional management measures are triggered; whether additional <br /> opportunities for ORV enhancement will be pursued;or whether the BLM determines <br /> ORVs are not being protected under the current Management Program. <br /> E. Monitoring of Other ORVs(?) <br /> 1. Other flow-influenced ORVs: Wildlife(river otter and bald eagle habitat in <br /> Segments 4&5;river otter in Segment 6),Botanical(riparian plant communities in <br /> Segment 6), and Scenic(Segments 4-7). The Conceptual Plan states that it is assumed <br /> that the flows necessary to maintain the recreational floatboating and fishing ORVs will <br /> be adequate to maintain the other flow-influenced ORVs. Where the recommended <br /> flows do not protect the other ORVs,the SG will consider measures that would be <br /> Page 6 of 15 <br />
