DNR COLORADO <br /> CO 1 <br /> Colorado Water <br /> Conservation Board <br /> Department of Natural Resources <br /> 1313 Sherman Street, Room 721 <br /> Denver, CO 80203 <br /> Memorandum <br /> ... <br /> To Tom Browning, Assistant Director <br /> From: Becky Mitchell <br /> Kevin Reidy Et Ben Wade <br /> Water Supply Planning 7/307 <br /> Date: July 28, 2014 <br /> Subject: Water Efficiency Grant Fund Recommendation for the City of La Junta <br /> Recommendation: <br /> The Water Supply Planning staff recommends that Tom Browning, Assistant Director, <br /> approve a Water Efficiency Grant to develop a Water Conservation Plan in the amount <br /> of $16,200 for the City of La Junta. <br /> Summary of Grant Application <br /> The Water Supply Planning staff received a Water Efficiency Grant application from <br /> the City of La Junta requesting $16,200 to develop a Water Conservation Plan. <br /> La Junta is a covered entity located in the Arkansas Basin. Water conservation <br /> planning has progressed over the years due to local and regional planning efforts <br /> supported by CWCB a the Bureau of Reclamation. A system wide water audit <br /> conducted by Southeastern Colorado Water Conservancy District in 2011 helped the <br /> City improve characterization of its water loss, data collection and organization <br /> efforts. The City has also recently expanded its water supply distribution system to <br /> provide neighboring municipalities an additional source of potable water improving <br /> their system reliability. Updating La Junta's conservation plan will continue to <br /> improve data collection a water loss control and leak mitigation programs. La Junta <br /> estimates they will reduce water use by 5% over the next ten years. <br /> The total cost of the project is $22,500. La Junta is committing 28% matching funds in <br /> the form of $1,650 in cash Et $4,650 of in-kind services. CWCB staff has reviewed and <br /> evaluated the grant application and has determined that the proposal meets or <br /> exceeds the CWCB guidelines for reviewing grant proposals.
