COLORADO WATER CONSERVATION BOARD <br /> 823 State Centennial Building <br /> 1313 Sherman Street <br /> Denver, Colorado 80203 <br /> January 30, 1980 <br /> R E S O L U T I O N <br /> A RESOLUTION ENDORSING AND RECOMMENDING FOR CONSTRUCTION THE <br /> PROPOSED FLOOD PROTECTION PROJECT ALONG FOUNTAIN CREEK AT PUEBLO, <br /> COLORADO. <br /> WHEREAS, by the 1974 Water Resources Development Act, the <br /> Congress of the United States authorized the United States Army <br /> Corps of Engineers to perform flood control studies within the <br /> Arkansas River Basin; and <br /> WHEREAS, the District Engineer, United States Army Corps of <br /> Engineers, Albuquerque District, Albuquerque, New Mexico, has <br /> formulated a plan of improvement, which plan consists of levees <br /> and channel alterations along Fountain Creek in Pueblo, Colorado; <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS, the proposed plan has the support of the City of <br /> Pueblo, the Fountain Creek Commission-, and local citizens, as <br /> expressed during the public hearing for the project on January 10, <br /> 1980; and • <br /> WHEREAS, the Colorado Water Conservation Board recognizes <br /> that the plan will create substantial benefits through the alle- <br /> viation of flooding and flood damages; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Colorado Water Conservation Board has the <br /> statutory responsibility to encourage and assist local units of <br /> government to minimize hazards to life and property from floods; <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS, the Colorado Water Conservation Board desires the <br /> earliest possible construction of the flood protection project for <br /> Fountain Creek as formulated by the United States Army Corps of <br /> Engineers; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Colorado Water <br /> Conservation Board in regular meeting assembled in Denver, Colorado, <br /> on this 30th day of January, 1980, that it does endorse and <br /> recommend that said flood protection project be authorized for <br /> construction by the Congress of the United States; and <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Board is <br /> directed to send a certified copy of this resolution to the <br /> District Engineer, U. S. Army Corps of Engineers, Albuquerque <br />
