It is operated and maintained by the
U. S. Water and Power Resources Service (formerly the Bureau of
Reclamation) . Its operation and functions are subject to the
"Operating Principles , Fryingpan-Arkansas Project," adopted
April 30 , 1959, as amended December 9, 1960 .
The total capacity of Ruedi Reservoir is just over 102,000
acre-feet, 101,000 acre-feet of which is active capacity. The
estimated firm annual yield of the reservoir is about 76,000 acre-
feet. Of this , 28 ,000 acre-feet is allocated to replacement
storage, the purpose of which is to provide water for release to
. downstream users if and when the Fryingpan-Arkansas transmountain
conveyance facilities are diverting out of priority. The balance
of the yield, 48 ,000 acre-feet, is referred to as regulatory
capacity. It should be noted that the 48 ,000 acre-foot figure
assumes a demand pattern that would be typical of municipal and
industrial users (i.e . , relatively constant monthly requirements) .
If some other demand pattern is assumed, then the yield of the
regulatory capacity might change some.
• Of the reservoirs total cost, $9.2 million was allocated to
regulatory capacity and is a reimbursable cost.
