The Town of Monument is a part of a regional Water Conservation Plan
approved in March 2014.
Monument's water supply comes solely from groundwater. The Town is seeking to improve
water loss management and control procedures in its service area. The population of Monument
is projected to increase 6%by 2017 and Monument currently estimates that its water loss is an
average of 13-15%per year. To improve Monument's understanding of water loss in its service
area, the town will use the American Water Works Association Manual of Practice M36 to
conduct a desktop audit. The results of the audit will be reviewed by an international water loss
expert who will make recommendations to Monument staff to improve water loss control and
management.
The total project cost is $32,911. The Town has pledged 31%matching funds in the
combination of in-kind services, $5,590, and $4,748 in cash. CWCB staff has reviewed and
evaluated the grant application and has determined that the proposal meets or exceeds the CWCB
guidelines for reviewing grant proposals.
