CWCB-Colorado Foundation for Water Education—Annual Appropriations
• Recommendation
CWCB staff recommends that the Board approve the inclusion of a$150,000 Non-Reimbursable
request in the 2010 Projects Bill.
Background
HB 02-1152 established the Colorado Foundation for Water Education Foundation(CFWE). The
legislation allowed the Board to initially provide $250,000 to establish the Foundation and
authorizes the Board to provide $150,000 each year thereafter to support the Foundation.
The Board can stop providing funds after notice has been given notice to the CFWE that the
purposes for which the Foundation was established have ceased, or when the Foundation
becomes self-sufficient.
The Bylaws of the CFWE provide seats for the CWCB Director and another Board
representative for two year terms. Currently those seats are being filled by Jennifer Gimbel and
Travis Smith. The Department of Natural Resources Executive Direcor's Office also has a
Board seat. And that seat is currently filled by Alex Davis.
This non-reimbursable expenditure would provide the next $150,000 increment of funding for
the Fiscal Year 2010-2011. A scope of work for the FY11 will be presented to the Board for
• approval at the May 2010 Board meeting.
