water losses, and thus infiltration to the aquifer should be monitored. Based on some
amount of operational experience and monitoring at the site(s), the site(s) should be
further evaluated for its effectiveness in the recharge project. The evaluation may
indicate for example that: (1) the site(s) should be enlarged because it is highly effective,
(2) that the depth be increased to eliminate high evaporative losses, (3) that an
additional site is more suitable to project goals and should be developed, or (4) it may
indicate information that is valuable for the development of additional sites, such as a
more effective measurement structure.
Conclusions
This report has identified and evaluated proposed recharge sites that may be used for
purposes of providing well augmentation water sources to the South Platte River. A
methodology for administering and managing the recharge project has also been
presenting in this report, including measurement, operational procedures, and
accounting. This report has also recommended a general implementation plan for the
project.
This report provided a preliminary estimate of probable initial costs for the development
of the project. The conclusions of this report indicate that the potential for implementing
a suitable and cost effective recharge plan for Union Ditch is quite feasible.
Aqua Engineering, Inc.
