The Selected Project <br /> The selected PRID facilities are described below and shown on the drawing in Appendix E. The <br /> exact size and location of the facilities is subject to modification until final plans and <br /> specifications; the largest necessary size is included herein. <br /> Raw Water Conveyance: Only these raw water facilities are included in this CWCB funding <br /> request; the remaining facilities are included for informational purposes. These facilities include: <br /> • A tap into the existing steel pipeline where it exits the outlet tunnel at the toe of the dam. <br /> A steel pipeline has been installed into the horseshoe tunnel in the dam. Where the tunnel <br /> ends, water though the pipeline can be discharged to the outlet chute or conveyed into a <br /> buried 7 foot diameter penstock to a power plant. The tap will either be in the tunnel <br /> pipeline or the penstock. The tap will be used to obtain water from the reservoir for <br /> conveyance to the treatment plant. The tap is expected to be 1.5 to 2 foot diameter with a <br /> gate valve to stop diversions for repairs or other work. <br /> • A 7 foot valve will be installed on the penstock in order to close the penstock to allow <br /> domestic water to be diverted through the tap if the penstock or power plant is "down" for <br /> repairs. Without this valve, domestic water could not be obtained from the tunnel pipeline <br /> or penstock. <br /> • From the tap, a 500 foot long, 2 foot diameter pipeline will be constructed to follow the <br /> outlet channel to the spillway channel, where the pipeline will be bridged over the spillway <br /> then up a rise to the proposed treatment plant site. The pipeline will be buried on either <br /> side of the spillway channel. The pipeline bridge over the spillway will have the main <br /> pipeline encased in a larger pipe to provide insulation and structural support. <br /> • A pumping plant will be necessary on the pipeline because the head in the reservoir is not <br /> adequate to pressurize the treatment plant, especially when the reservoir water level is low. <br /> The treatment plant may need as much as 30 psi, which is not available even when the <br /> reservoir is filled. The pump station would be 3 pumps to provide various flows and <br /> adequate emergency capacity. The pump lift would vary from about 20 to 80 feet of lift <br /> depending upon the reservoir water level. The pump capacity would initially be about 0.4 <br /> cfs, increasing to about 6 cfs in the year 2050. A buried power line will be necessary to the <br /> pumping plant. <br /> • Arrangements have been made with Reclamation to design the raw water facilities through <br /> "State Assistance Funds". <br /> Treatment Plant Building: The treatment process has not yet been selected; the options include a <br /> membrane filter, filter bags, or a standard sand filter. The largest size building for any of these <br /> processes is 100 feet by 100 feet. The building is expected to be a metal building on a concrete <br /> foundation adequate for the selected treatment process. <br /> 5 <br />
