7.3 SERVICE LINES. The customer shall install, maintain and own their service line.
The Company reserves the right to inspect service lines at any reasonable time and to
require corrections where necessary. The Company shall, however, assume no
responsibility for the inspection of the service line.
The service line shall meet Company standards. In installing the service line the
customer shall comply with all local, state and federal health laws, and applicable
plumbing and other codes. Upon receiving notification from proper authority of any
violation of these laws and codes, the Company shall have ten (10) days following receipt
of notice from the Company to bring their service line into compliance with laws and
codes. If the customer does not comply within this period, the Company may discontinue
the customer's water service.
ARTICLE VIII. WATER METERS
8.1 A single meter shall serve only one residential unit or one commercial unit. The
Commission may, at its discretion and in accordance with any grant, power, duty,
responsibility, limitation, or restriction imposed or conferred upon the Commission by
statutes now existing or subsequently amended, or by any contract or agreement existing
between the Company and any other governmental entity, grant a variance and permit
one meter to serve more than one residential or commercial unit. In making such a
determination the Commission may consider factors, including but not limited to,
convenience to ultimate consumers, engineering feasibility, and maintenance and repair
difficulties. Regardless of the number of meters required by the Company, the customer
shall pay a tap fee for each residential or commercial unit.
The Company, in coordination with the customer, shall decide the location of the meter
pit. Meter pits shall be located on the customer's property, generally inside and adjacent
to the property boundary. Meter pits shall be placed in areas not susceptible to irrigation,
drainage, or possible damage from reasonable customer activities. In the case of location
area disagreement, the Company Engineer or Company Manager shall decide the
location.
The Company shall extend an outlet pipe connection out of the meter pit for a distance of
approximately five (5) feet to allow the customer to install the service line. The customer
is responsible for connection to the outlet pipe and shall be required to install an
underground stop-and waste valve at or near the termination of the outlet pipe.
Installation shall be in conformance with Company standards. The outlet pipe to
residential service lines shall terminate with a 3/4 inch diameter male iron pipe threading.
The outlet pipe to commercial or multi-unit service lines shall terminate with a male iron
pipe threading of the same diameter as the meter size. The approximate depth of the
outlet pipe shall be four and one-half(4 ''A) feet below grade.
Only authorized Company personnel shall be allowed access to meter pits.
8
