IMPLEMENTATION SCHEDULE
The following schedule is proposed for implementation of PRID facilities:
Task Target Completion Date
1. Obtain Adequate Tap Sign Ups To Begin Construction Mid-2000
2. Designs and right-of-way acquisition one year after adequate taps
3. Construction 2 to 3 year construction
SOCIAL, ECONOMIC, and PHYSICAL IMPACTS
Providing water to the VWC will have significant positive social impacts by providing an
adequate quantity of good quality drinking water to people that presently do not have adequate
quantity or quality of drinking water. LaPlata County master land use plans will be coordinated
with the water system by not allowing more taps than the density included in the master plans.
The project will have a positive economic impact by providing drinking water to homes without
adequate water and the sale of the water will provide additional revenue to PRID for
improvement of the irrigation delivery systems to about 45,000 acres.
The project will have no significant physical impacts once construction is complete because all
of the pipelines will be buried. The raw water facilities will also be in existing buildings, buried
pipelines, or inside existing restricted areas. The treatment plant and water tank will be located
to minimize the visual impact from the main County Road.
Environmental analysis has been conducted on the rural water system in the form of an
application to the Corp of Engineers for a 404 Permit and the preparation of a Class II
Environmental Assessment for USDA Rural Development.
PERMITTING
LaPlata County Master Plan and Corp of Engineer 404 Permit has been obtained.
14
