Widening of HWY 6 Bridge
♦ Width of each bridge is 38 feet
• Older timber bridge would be replaced
♦ 20' x 8' RCBs would be added to the southbound bridge as an alternative to
widening the bridge
New HWY 6 Bridge
• 80 ft width to carry north and southbound lanes
♦ Approximate bridge length is 140 feet
• Rip-rap lining under the bridge around both abutments
New Railroad Bridge
• Single track bridge
♦ Approximately 140 feet in length
Ditch Siphon Structure
♦ Designed to pass 200 cfs
♦ Approximately 350 feet in length
• Concrete headwalls
♦ Spillway structure to spill ditch water into channel
Road/Driveway Depressions
♦ 24' wide non-paved road section
♦ Maximum grade 5 %
• low flow culverts
♦ Surface hardening along channel bottom
Land Acquisition for Levees
• Assume 5 feet beyond the toe of the levee (both sides) to determine required
right-of-way.
• Assume fee simple property acquisition for land under levees/channels
• Assume flow easement for land between levees if land can still be farmed
Using the conceptual design, estimates of construction costs were prepared for the
proposed improvements. These costs were calculated using values published by FEMA
(G.2 Numeric Cost Code Listing for Region 8), CDOT Region 4 bid tabs, Union Pacific
Railroad, and local project bid tabs.
A contingency of 15 percent of the construction cost was added to all estimates. This
contingency is intended to cover incidental costs that would be associated with these
types of projects but are not identified with the conceptual level of details.
Engineering will include design and construction surveying and was assumed to be 12
percent of total construction costs.
25
