�s] <br />dominant means of transportation for a long while, and the large investments <br />in fossil - fueled electrical generating facilities and the lags experienced in <br />converting to nuclear power mean a continued dependence on fossil fuels <br />for quite some time. Even techniques for conserving energy can require <br />years to make any significant contribution to lowered energy use. <br />After 1985, however, more options for altering energy consumption <br />patterns exist; e. g. , rapid transit systems could be completed by then, <br />nuclear - fueled power plants could reduce the strain on fossil fuels, and <br />energy conservation techniques could be implemented. <br />Flood Plain- -The following information will be developed for both the "C" <br />and "E" series population growth rates. <br />o An estimate of future damages, assuming no increase <br />in the current (1975) level of flood plain regulations. <br />o An estimate of future damages, assuming effective <br />implementation with (1) the current (1975) trend in <br />flood plain regulations projected, and (2) all flood <br />plains regulated. <br />
