s]
dominant means of transportation for a long while, and the large investments
in fossil - fueled electrical generating facilities and the lags experienced in
converting to nuclear power mean a continued dependence on fossil fuels
for quite some time. Even techniques for conserving energy can require
years to make any significant contribution to lowered energy use.
After 1985, however, more options for altering energy consumption
patterns exist; e. g. , rapid transit systems could be completed by then,
nuclear - fueled power plants could reduce the strain on fossil fuels, and
energy conservation techniques could be implemented.
Flood Plain- -The following information will be developed for both the "C"
and "E" series population growth rates.
o An estimate of future damages, assuming no increase
in the current (1975) level of flood plain regulations.
o An estimate of future damages, assuming effective
implementation with (1) the current (1975) trend in
flood plain regulations projected, and (2) all flood
plains regulated.
