Last Chance Ditch Company
Imp tementation Schedu le
AGPRO is expected to finish the final designs within thirty (30) to sixty (60)
days of approval of funding. Upon approval of funding, construction is
scheduled to begin fall 2011 and be completed by spring 2012. Construction
shall take place in the off-peak months.
Impacts
Although shareholders of Last Chance Ditch will be impacted lith increased
assessments for construction and loan repayment, the project will have a long
term positive economic impact b_y assuring continued vater availability to the
shareholders.
This project should have little impact on the man-made environment as the
vork being performed is taking place in an agricultural area and not in a
residential or commercial site.
There will be minor impacts on the natural environment. Some rangeland vill
be disturbed during the replacement of the existing headworks and installation
of the new structure. Since construction is taking place during the winter
months, dovnstream crops will only be slightly disturbed. Impact to aquatic
life is not expected as a result from the ditch vork, as it will be closed for the
season `vhen the headworks replacement is taking place. There will be some
work within the St. Vrain Creek vhich could cause minimal impact to aquatic
life. Hocvever, the work will be performed during the winter when the creek is
typically at low flov which should allow for construction without disturbing the
creek.
Institutional Feaszbitity
All permits, easements and rights-of-way have been arranged.
The Army Corp of Engineers has reviewed Last Chance Ditch's headgate
replacement plans. It was determined that the proposed vork is classified
within Section 404(fl exemption found in 33 CFR Part 323.4(a) (3) of the Clean
Water Act. Therefore the Army Corp of Engineers has granted a 404
Exemption to Last Chance Ditch Company. A copy of the exemption letter is
included in Appendix I.
i i ast ance rtc ompany oan easi i iry tu y age o
