WATER RIGHTS
In addition to the Kern storage right, the Town owns the following direct flow rights:
Table 3 - Summary of Non-Potable Water Rights Owned by the Town of Windsor
Shares
Total
Owned Percent
Direct Flow Water RightNo. of
by Interest
Shares
Town
North Poudre Irrigation Co.350.510,0003.5%
Whitney Irrigating Ditch Co.2 3200.6%
B.H. In addition, Windsor is ultimately targeting
an additional 400 acre-feet of new non-potable water that can serve as a firm supply to
fill a portion of the water storage. For budgetary reasons, the Town is requesting funds
to acquire 172 acre-feet as part of this study. The combination of new water storage
and new water supply will sure up the Town’s non-potable future and take pressure off
the Kern Reservoir.
In the first part of this section, we discuss three potential non-potable storage sites that
were considered. In the second part of the section, we discuss the potential water
rights that could be used to fill a portion of this storage.
Storage Alternatives
Figure 3
The potential storage sites evaluated are shown in .
