chamber. The 20 -inch valve and the "T" section immediately
down stream' of the 20 -inch valve will be replaced with an
elbow section to reduce the turbulent flow in that area of the
pipe.
Action - Reclamation - Reclamation will prepare and administer
a contract to remove the 20 -inch butterfly valve, replace the
"T" section of pipe with an elbow section and grout the 24-
inch steel by -pass line shut upstream of the 24 -inch valve.
4. Drainage Tunnel
Between stations 30 +76 and 30 +96 water is seeping (spurting)
through cracks in the left wall and in the floor.
Action - The consensus of the inspection team was that the
seeps presented no hazard and that if the existing ones were
blocked, it would increase the pressure higher on the wall and
new seeps would develop at another location. Therefore, no
action is required at this time.
The following comments are general observations which were noted
during the inspection process, but are not .considered to be
deficiencies requiring correction.
1. Reclamation will update the SOP and provide the District with
a set of "As Built" drawings, rights -of -way data, operation and
maintenance manuals and any other data that may help the
District in the operation and maintenance of Ridgway Dam.
2. The drainage ditch above the dam on the left abutment will be
fixed, by the dam tenders, to drain without getting clogged up with
slope wash.
3. The crack near the left abutment was inspected and no new
movement was observed.
4. The problem with the light fixtures in the control house
blowing fuses, appears to be due to voltage fluctuations. It was
recommended that the fuse size be increased from 1 1/2 to 2 amps.
