Animas -La Plata Project
Feb 13, 2013 Draft Transfer Inspection Report
5. 48" Sleeve Valve
The 48" sleeve valve is used to make normal operational releases into Basin Creek and to
drain the penstock. Flows may be adjusted by the electric motor operator at the ACP or
locally at the valve. A 48" butterfly valve is installed upstream of the sleeve valve and is
used for isolation. The sleeve valve was chosen to ensure that non - native fish escapement
to the Animas River is prevented.
During Project releases, this valve will normally be operated by SCADA. The Sleeve Valve
potentiometer was replaced and programmed in November 2012.
TRANSFER ISSUE
STIPULATION
Fish mortality - related
Reclamation will continue to work with the Recovery Program to
constraints associated with
ensure that concerns related to potential fish escapement have
operational Project releases
been alleviated.
need to be resolved
6. Durango M &I Line
The Durango M &I supply line is for future water development and consists of the 36"
diameter steel pipe and a 36" diameter motor operated butterfly valve. The end of the pipe
terminates at a 36" diameter blind flange beneath the ground surface near the control
house.
TRANSFER ISSUE
STIPULATION
Coating on the bypass line is
Reclamation will repair the coating on the 8 „ bypass line.
damaged
7. Ultrasonic Flowmeter
The ultrasonic flowmeter (Accusonic 7510 +) feed - through transducer assemblies is installed
on the 66” diameter steel outlet works discharge pipe. The flowmeter console is installed in
the control building. The flowmeter is used to measure the flow in the pipe and provide
display readouts of the flowrate in units of cfs, and of totalized volume in units of acre -feet.
The system is configured to measure flow in fully surcharged pipes and conduits and was
factory certified in 2012. The manufacturer provided training to the Association in March
2012. Accusonic has stated that noise coming from the unit is normal, even though the two
older units (Accusonic 7510) in the Durango Pumping Plant run quiet.
TRANSFER ISSUE
STIPULATION
Flowmeter software is out
Reclamation will install new Accusonic software.
of date
8. Auxiliary Control Panel
Auxiliary Control Panel (ACP) control power is provided by a 120 -volt branch circuit from
lighting and distribution panel board DJA. All gate and valve controls and indicating devices
are located or interfaced at the auxiliary control panel, and have been calibrated.
Transferred Works Inspection 7 Animas -La Plata Project
