<br />Executive Briefing — Mark Your Calendars
<br />This year, the Foundation's popular Executive Briefing, "Building a Vision:
<br />Putting the Pieces Together," will be held March 23 -24, at the Radisson Hotel in
<br />Sacramento. Top policy makers and leading agricultural, environmental and urban
<br />water stakeholders will provide the latest information on:
<br />• Infrastrucutre — Investing in the Systems
<br />• Delta Vision — The Big Picture
<br />• The Colorado River — Sharing the Shortage
<br />• Delta Levees and Flood Risk — How to Protect the Heart of the System
<br />• The Salton Sea — Different Visions of Restoration
<br />• Legislative Update
<br />The registration cost for both days is $250 for Foundation major contributors
<br />($100 or more annual contribution) and $300 for non - contributors. Thursday -only
<br />is $175 for major contributors and $200 for non - contributors. The fee includes
<br />continental breakfast both days, and lunch and a hosted reception on March 23.
<br />A silent auction to benefit the Foundation's Water Leaders Class will be

<br />2006 Water Leaders Selected
<br />The Foundation's Tenth Annual Water Leaders Class convened Jan. 18 at the
<br />Foundation office for a one -day briefing about California water issues. Eighteen
<br />young professionals were selected to participate in the William R. Gianelli Water
<br />Leaders Class for 2006.
<br />Each class member is assigned to shadow and interview a prominent water
<br />stakeholder — with the goal of matching students to mentors from different
<br />communities. In addition, class members attend Foundation tours and briefings
<br />as they research and develop an oral presentation. This year's class will research
<br />issues related to flood management.
<br />Class members for 2006 are: Curtis Anderson, California Department of Water
<br />Resources; Viola Brooks, Hoopa Valley Tribe; Heather Cooley, The Pacific Institute;
<br />David Eggerton, El Dorado Irrigation District; Christian Kropf, Washoe County

<br />Funding for the 2006 class is provided by the William R. Gianelli Water
<br />Leaders Fund. The Foundation is seeking additional grant funding for the class.
<br />Lower Colorado River Tour, April 5 -7
<br />Sign -ups are underway for the Foundation's popular Lower Colorado River Tour,
<br />which follows the course of the lower Colorado River through parts of Arizona,
<br />California and Nevada. This fast - paced, three -day, two -night tour includes a tour
<br />of Hoover Dam, a boat ride on Lake Mead, and visits to the Havasu National
<br />Wildlife refuge, farms in the Imperial, Coachella and Palo Verde valleys and the
<br />Salton Sea.
