i
The work will be performed by rehabilitation and /or reconstruction downstream of the existing
' embankments. The Dams will generally be rehabilitated as discussed for Option A -2, including
raising of all dam embankments.
A new dam will be constructed north of the existing Dam 4. Dam:S =will be approximately
3,000 feet long, and will straddle the proposed spillway site._. Fig. 5 shows a typical section
of new Dam 5.
In addition to the work described above, the rehabilitation will- require work on the outlet works
including extension of the conduits, raising of outlet towerand catwalks. The spillway crest
will be raised and lined with soil cement, and the inlet canal shortened by 1,900 feet.
Approximately 3.2 miles of County Line Road will rhaue to relocatedand a new bridge will be
constructed.
8.4 Alternative C
Under this alternative, the normal water level in the reservoir will be raised 6.5 feet to Gage
30.5 (El 3713.5). Construction of new dams downstream of existing dams and increasing the
storage level will provide significant additional`: storage. This alternative will result in additional
storage between 10,100 to:' 21;=900 acre -feet as is discussed in the options below.
The outlet tower will be raised by constructing a new platform on top of the existing one,
relocating the gate operators;= extend in the gate shafts, and raising the catwalk supports and
extending the catwalk to the relocated dam crest. The outlet conduit will be extended, and
a new terminal structure constructed. A soil /cement spillway control section will be
constructed in the nattrral ground in the center line of the new Dam 5. The inlet canal will be
shortened by 6,400" feet.
Option C -1: Under this option, the existing dam embankments will be raised 6.5 feet
by rehabilitation and /or reconstruction. This will result in additional storage of 10,100
acre -feet. The raise will be generally downstream and will require foundation treatment
Areports\9 7-1 -500.nk
