VI. Multi- objective Planning and Projects: Participate with partners to plan and undertake multi- objective <br />projects designed to reduce flood hazards, stablilize stream channels, provide habitat, reduce erosion, and <br />increase the capacity to utilize water. <br />VII. Statewide Outreach and Education: Each section shall perform outreach and education including <br />participating in public awareness and program advocacy activities to increase public and organizational <br />understanding of CWCB and develop opportunities for each Section to achieve their goals. <br />VIII. Water Information: Make information accessible to CWCB's customers and the public including <br />maintaining and updating the floodplain information support system and CWCB flood web site, as well as <br />general information related to the Section, through publications, the Internet, databases, and imaging documents. <br />IX. Weather Modification Permitting and Projects: Regulatory and permitting responsibilities as it relates to <br />conducting weather modification in the State of Colorado. The section is required to coordinate with weather <br />modification contractors and project sponsors and monitor their activities for compliance with rules and <br />regulations and state statutes. <br />Activities for the accomplishment Flood Protection Program Obeectives <br />The Section's responsibilities /activities for accomplishing its program objectives and legislative intent are: <br />I. Floodplain Designation: Activities include reviewing and approving published floodplain information <br />from a Flood Insurance Study, Floodplain Information Report, Flood Insurance Rate Map, Flood Hazard <br />Boundary Map, and a Special Summary Report from a Flood Related Study. These reports address the <br />delineation of the State's 100 -year floodplains. The Board's action assures compliance with the Board's <br />Rules and Regulations for the delineation of 100 -year floodplains. <br />II. Floodplain Identification: Activities include producing and publishing floodplain information reports <br />that show and present the 100- year floodplain information for the State's flood prone areas. The Board <br />shall use the financial and technical resources local, state, federal and private resources for the <br />accomplishment of this objective. The staff shall use innovative measures in development floodplain <br />maps using GIS, GPS, digital floodplain mapping LIDAR, Hydraulic - modeling programs. The Board <br />actions will allow all Colorado communities the opportunity to secure legally enforceable floodplain <br />information for their floodplain management programs. <br />III. Prepare for and Respond to Flood Events: Activities entail analyzing annual flooding threat and the <br />response to actual flood event and post flood recovery activities. The Board works with the Governor's <br />Office, OEM, NRCS, CDOT, DWR, DNR, DOLA, NWS, FEMA, Corps of Engineers, and local <br />governments regarding advanced measures and preparedness, flood fight activities, and post flood <br />recovery operations. <br />The activities are: <br />• Monitoring flood threats <br />• Aerial photography of an actual flood event <br />• Post -flood documentation and reporting <br />• Preparing flood mitigation and response plans <br />IV. Recover from and Mitigate Flood Hazards: Activities allow the Board to provide technical services to <br />support recovery from flood losses, river basin and watershed planning, and financial assistance for the <br />implementation of flood reduction measures for the reduction of flood risks and threats to life and <br />property. <br />The activities are: <br />• Structural flood protection planning studies <br />• Non - Structural mitigation measures <br />2 <br />
