Previous Studies
A number of reconnaissance and feasibility level investigations for water
storage /management projects have been completed in the lower South Platte area. The
previous investigations have generally been limited to addressing the interests of individual
water supply entities. The State of Colorado through this effort will complete an independent
reconnaissance -level study to consolidate the information developed in previous studies,
identify other viable options and conduct a uniform evaluation of alternatives. The previous
investigations will be reviewed and utilized to the fullest extent practical in the proposed
Study.
Study Area
The geographic focus of the study will center on potential water management opportunities
from approximately the Tamarack Ranch State Wildlife Area to the Colorado - Nebraska state -
line. However, if surface water storage sites are identified in this area that require support
facilities that are outside the study area (i.e., fill structures) the support facilities should be
considered part of the study area. If highly desirable sites are identified, a more detailed
(feasibility- level) investigation of the individual sites may be undertaken.
II. DETAILED SCOPE OF WORK TASKS
The following information is a list of detailed tasks which will need to be completed as part
of the Study. All work must conform to the CWCB, "Water Project Construction Loan
Program, Guidelines for Financial Assistance through the Colorado Water Conservation
Board, Construction Fund" dated August 1994 as amended. The successful Consultant is
expected to submit a proposal outlining how they intend to address the Scope of Work tasks.
This proposal must conform with the above referenced guidelines and shall include the
information outlined in Section 2.2.2 "Study Plan ".
It is anticipated that CWCB may wish to modify some of the Study tasks upon completion of
Task 1. However, it is not anticipated that this effort will affect the cost of the Study unless
the review effort described in Task 1 fundamentally changes the scope of services.
DRAFT FINAL - September 2000
