The purpose of the system is to
help Colorado agencies make informed decisions on Colorado River issues. The
Colorado Department of Natural Resources retained Boyle Engineering to aid in the
design, testing, and implementation of the CRDSS during its third phase of
development.
Boyle enhanced the state's existing water resources planning models for the Yampa
River Basin, the Colorado River Basin, the Gunnison River Basin, and the San Juan -
Dolores River Basins. The enhancements involved including 100 percent of basin
consumptive use in the models by aggregating demands, diversions, and water rights
of numerous small users; adding forecasting capabilities for flood control reservoirs;
calibrating the models; and updating and completing the documentation. Boyle also
provided critique of the DSS components and documentation from the user
perspective.
Under Phase Illb of the CRDSS project, Boyle is assisting in design and testing of the
Division 5 Worksheet component of the water rights administrative tool. The
worksheet is a workbook of interrelated
spreadsheets showing reservoir
operations and accounting, which will
aid the Division Engineer in setting
calls in Division 5.
Boyle is currently extending the
historical data sets for the water
resources models, and managing
development of a stochastic data set.
The historical data set extension
involves data collection, as well as
development of new DSS components
for filling missing data.
A& T.
