URS has broad
experience with major water conveyance tunnels including the $2 billion Inland Feeder
Project in Southern California which involved over 30 miles of 12 to 14 -foot dia. tunnel;
the Stanley Canyon Tunnel near Colorado Springs which is a 3 -mile long, 11 ft dia. water
conveyance tunnel; and the Glenwood Canyon Tunnels project in Glenwood Springs,
CO, which is constructed in very similar ground conditions that will be encountered in
several of the tunnel alignments that we are presently studying for the Colorado River
Return Project.
In summary, URS has all the science, engineering, and technical support capabilities that
our assigned Project Team members will require throughout the implementation of the
project.
s
Water Treatment Facilities
Our firm has prepared more than 70 water resource - siting studies for municipal water
suppliers ranging from towns of less than 10,000 to major metropolitan areas around the
country. Preparation of these plans has required expertise in river basin modeling, water
39
