<br />Among large municipalities, the city of Pueblo ranked No. 1 in the percentage of Hispanic
<br />descendants with 44 percent; followed by Denver, 32 percent; Greeley, 30 percent; Thornton, 21
<br />percent; Aurora, 20 percent; Longmont, 19 percent; Westminster, 15 percent; Lakewood, 15 percent;
<br />Colorado Springs, 12 percent; Grand Junction, 11 percent; Arvada, 10 percent; Fort Collins, 9 percent;
<br />and Boulder, 8 percent.
<br />Pueblo ranked No. 4 in the percentage of blacks: Aurora, 13.4 percent; Denver, 11.1 percent;
<br />Colorado Springs, 6.6 percent; Pueblo, 2.4 percent; Thornton, 1.5 percent; and Lakewood, 1.5 percent.
<br />Pueblo ranked No. 1 in percentage of American Indian ancestry with 1.7 percent; Denver, 1.3 percent;
<br />Lakewood, 1.1 percent; Thornton, 1.1 percent; and Longmont, 1 percent.
<br />As for larger geographic regions, the southern portion of the state ranked No. 1 in percentage of
<br />Hispanic descendants. Ten of the state's top 12 counties in terms of percentage of Hispanics are in the
<br />south: Costilla, 68 percent; Conejos, 59 percent; Saguache, 45 percent; Rio Grande, 42 percent; Las
<br />Animas, 42 percent; Alamosa, 41 percent; Pueblo, 38 percent; Otero, 38 percent; Lake, 36 percent;
<br />Huerfano, 35 percent; Prowers, 33 percent; Denver, 32 percent.
