The
following brief overview ex-
plains where we are today and
what we hope to accomplish in
the future. This bold initiative
identifies and makes possible
real benefits for the staff, the
Directors, and the District as a
whole.
Phase One of the planning
process began with a baseline of
the District's digital data assets.
This work included a compre-
hensive inventory of base map-
ping needed as well as the ba-
sics to include an accurate de-
lineation of the 1958 and the
2002 District boundaries. Phase
One is 80 percent complete and
a Water Rights Data Base and
graphics file has been created.
A 1979 District decreed
boundaries is in the last key
W3
piece of this phase and will be
in place some time early in
2004. Also, a comprehensive
project plan will be in place
later this year that will help us
understand the questions that
need to be answered in order to
maximize the financial benefits
to the District. To date, Phase
One is nearing completion and
further work is on the horizon
for this very important ongoing
effort.
Future plans include: identi-
fying and creating additional
map overlays, and data that will
be uniquely related to the Dis-
tricts needs via a needs assess-
ment and implementation plan.
It will also include establishing
processes and tools that the Dis-
trict will use to quickly retrieve
accurate answers to common
questions needed for the Dis-
trict's management.
Written by Mickey D.
