<br />past floods have occurred in tho late afternoon or evoning dulinL:; the
<br />tourist season without nmch warning, it may be assumod that similar con-
<br />ditions mould prevail at the time of the design flood. Under these
<br />assumptions a. large loss of life may be expected in conjunction l;rith the
<br />other flood losses. If this flood. occurred at night or on a wook -ond,
<br />it is not improbable that over a. hundred lives might be lost, from among
<br />people camping overnight in the canyon. A brief summar7r of the estimated
<br />damages that would result from the flood is given in the following, para-
<br />graphs.
<br />70. Kittredge.- The estimated damages in the tovin of Kittredge would
<br />amount to $40,000, divided as follows: Buildings and J.rr?rovements, $$30,000;
<br />bridges, $5,000; and dar1LI.L�e to land from erosion or silt, $5,000.
<br />71. Idledale.- The to *,.rn of Idledale would suf "e.r an estimated damage
<br />of $25,000, of which amount $15,000 would be to buildi , s and improvements,
<br />$5,000 to land, and $5,000 to bridges.
<br />72. Bear Creek Canyon. - Along year Creek. Canyon, exclusive of the
<br />toi,rns mentioned above, the do,, ;e would probably amount to $90,000. Summer
<br />homes. along; the canyon would be damaUed to the extent of $50,000, while the
<br />grounds would suffer $5,000 damage and the highway and bridges would probab-
<br />17r suffer $25,000 damage .
<br />73. Morrison.- Total damage in the town of Korrison would amount
<br />to about $270,000. The principal item would 'be the buildings and im-
<br />provements .!ith an estimated dama;_e of $200,000. The other damages would
<br />be divided as follows: Utilities, $25,000; fish hatcher -,r, $25,000; land,
<br />$10,000; and bridges, $10,000.
<br />74, Below Morrison.- In this area it is estimated that the total
<br />da.:ia,ge would be $25,000, allocated. as follows: Farmlands, $15,000;
