Modeling Results for
Colorado River Basin States' Modeling of
Colorado River and Reservoir Management Strategies
Table 3 -1 displays the maximum cumulative shortage for each strategy.
Cumulative shortage refers to the total amount of shortage accumulated up to (and
including) a certain year. The value in the table reflects the maximum for that
year over all 90 traces. Shortage accumulates faster under Hybrid revl because it
is triggered sooner and more often as shown in Figure 3.8. Recall that under the
Step Shortage strategies, the maximum shortage in any one year is 600 KAF.
3.4 Releases from Powell
3.4.1 Powell Release of 75 MAF over 10 years
10.5
10.0
9.5
m 9.0
E
m
W
y 8.5
m
8.0
0
a
m
Y
1 7.5
7.0
6.5
6.04—
2005
Figure 3 -9
10 -Year Running Average of Lake Powell Releases
-4-- Normal - Step Shortage Original
--hr- Hybrid - Step Short Original
-13- Hybrid Rev1 - Step Short Rev1
2010 2015 2020
Calendar Year
2025
As shown in Figure 3 -9, releases from Powell are greater than 75 MAF over every
ten year period under each of the three strategies.
15
