Animas, Dolores, and San Juan rivers as they flow through the towns of Durango, Dolores, and
Pagosa Springs, respectively. Colorado River Outfitters Association is a trade association representing approximately
sixty outfitters operating on the thirteen river systems within the State of Colorado. The members
of CROA provided guided outfitting services to 500,000 people in 2000, generating
$120,000,000 of economic benefit. These outfitters, and the communities in which they live and
operate, are heavily dependent upon Colorado's recreation based economy and the use of water
for recreation purposes. CROA's Bylaws include promoting the conservation and protection of
riparian habitat and the river environment.
e. American Canoe Association, founded in 1880, is the nation's oldest and largest
paddlesports organization, with approximately 50,000 members nationwide. ACA establishes
standards and certifies instructors in many paddlesports disciplines, and is dedicated to preserving
and protecting America's natural areas and waterways for recreational use. Our mission and
members support the ability to appropriate water for instream recreational purposes
f. Professional Paddlesports Association (PPA) is a non -profit trade association fostering
paddlesport business with over 700 business members. Representing the paddlesport industry's
top outfitters, liveries and manufacturers, PPA works to promote paddlesports in many ways,
including supporting waterway conservation efforts.
