Policy Implementation Objectives <br />Flood Protection Section <br />Floodplain Designation — Produce aed review updates and revisions to current mapping <br />for CWCB and local governments to designate floodplains, using Geographical <br />Information Systems (GIS), Global Positioning Systems (GPS), digital floodplain <br />mapping, LIDAR, and two- dimensional modeling. <br />Floodplain Identification — Produce and review floodplain studies to identify floodplains <br />and clarify flood - related issues for CWCB and other state, federal, and local entities. <br />Prepare for and Respond to Flood Events — Prepare for and respond to flood events <br />including conducting field and technical activities (e.g., documentation of the flood, <br />providing technical guidance and support) in response to significant floods in Colorado. <br />Staff the CWCB mitigation officer position during declared disasters. <br />Recover from and Mitigate Flood Hazards — Provide technical services to support <br />recovery from and mitigation to flood and flood hazards. Includes providing post -flood <br />technical guidance for immediate and future decision making under emergency <br />conditions to aid the State and <br />its citizens. <br />Partnership with Federal, State, and Local Entities — Participate in partnering with <br />federal, state, and local entities for the management, marketing, and administration of <br />flood and flood related programs. <br />Multi - objective Planning and Projects — Participate with partners to plan and undertake <br />multi- objective projects designed to reduce flood hazards, stabilize�'sfre m channels, <br />provide habitat, reduce erosion, and increase the capacity to utilize water. <br />Statewide Outreach and Education — Each Section shall perform outreach and education <br />including participating in public awareness and program advocacy activities to increase <br />public and organizational understanding of CWCB and develop opportunities for each <br />Section to achieve their goals. <br />Water Information — Make information accessible to CWCB's customers and the public <br />including m— a— intaining and updating the floodplain Information Support System and <br />CWCB flood web site, as well as general information related to the Section, through <br />publications, the Internet, databases, and the imaging of documents. <br />wi&eJ� VA 0116 <br />Page 4 of 10 <br />4/2/2002 <br />
