Firestone Drought Management Plan
25% progress report
December 19, 2011
We have conducted two stakeholder meetings which have provided input for Steps 1, 2,
3 and 4. We have assessed the historical drought impacts and tallied their interest in
future supply-side and demand-side response strategies, as well as potential public
information messaging. We have had preliminary discussions about what they would
like to see in the development of the drought stages. We have also evaluated other
entities drought stages, such as their water provider's, to consider for consistency of
message. We didn't want our plan to be confusing with the other plans out there.
Our next step is to outline the drought stages and triggers and get feedback at the next
Stakeholder meeting. We will then present the draft drought stages to the Town Board
for their feedback. Since we do not know what the response will be to our proposed
drought stages, we are unsure of the remaining work for this step. We estimated we
would be done with Step 5 (development of drought stages, trigger points and response
targets) by mid-November. However, it is more likely this will occur mid-Jan, so we are
about 2 months behind schedule. We would like to update the schedule once we have
Step 5 complete, which will also coincide with the 50% progress report. Our budget
seems to be tracking fairly well with the steps that we have completed. We are learning
to balance presenting a lot of information while trying to streamline the process. Overall,
this has been a lot of open discussion and brainstorming of ideas that has been very
helpful to the Town.
8010 S.County Road 5,Ste.105 I Windsor,CO 80528 I (T)970.223.3706 I (F)970.223.3763 I www.clearwatercolorado.com
