_....-- ..........._ •
• Jeff Jackson, Compressor Facilities Operator, PDC. E-mail
correspondence concerning water demands associated with processing and
pipeline operations.
• Jim Burnell with the Colorado Geological Survey regarding uranium
mining.
Task 1.2 Review of Documents and Reports
URS continues to review energy related articles and documents as they are released.
Task 2 Water Demand Scenario Development
The objective of this task is to define a set of water demand and suppdy scenarios for
near, moderate, and long-term planning horizons for different production scenarios using
available data and information.
The URS Team developed a preliminary set of water demand scenarios for near,
moderate, and long-term planning horizons for natural gas, oil shale, uranium, and coal.
The initial results of this task were presented at the February 15, 2008 Working Session.
Further refinements to the scenarios have been developed susequent to the working
session. The URS Team has begun to develop specific, quantitative estimates of the
demands associated with each resource under each of the scenarios based on data
available up to this point. This is a step that was planned for Phase 2 of the Energy
Needs Assessment; however, adding some quantification to the scenarios was efficient at
this time and useful in identifying the most critical assumptions.
URS focused on the development of the unit water demands needed for each of thc
various phases of the natural gas, oil shale (in-situ and surface retort), uranium, and coal
mining processes.
Task 3 Review Conditional Water Rights
The objective of this task is to compile a list of the conditional water rights in the
Colorado and White River Basins, specifrcally water districts 39, 43, 45, 70, and
potentially 72, identifying those rights which ure currently owned by energy companies.
The other districts that are within the Yampa Basin cre not over-appropriated so it is not
necessary to investigate the conditional water rights.
No additional work was performed for this task during the referenced reporting period.
Task 4 Project Management, Meetings and Coordination
The objective of this tnsk is to provide the needed project management and
correspondence neededir the project.
The URS Team members attended the following meetings during the performance
period:
• April 16, 2008 Yampa/White Roundtable Meeting in Rangely, Colorado
lR ('ororatim
713 Couper,tnur, Suitc IO0
lintioid Sprin,:.
