r -C ..
VVoodwa d
direct sheaz tests would be performed to develop engineering properties, including
residual strength, for use in the analyses.
Task 4 - StabiliLy Analyses
Stability analyses will be performed using the computer program U'TEX►S3, which is
more suitable for evaluation of embankment slides than many slope stability analysis
programs. U'TXAS3 allows variation in the geometry of the siide plane to model
discontinuities in the soils, such as irrcgular slide surfaces identified in the drill holes and
along soil interfaces in zones of the embankment (such as through the puddle core} or
foundation materials. In addition, we will model the slope movement using a Factor of
Safety equa11.0 (incipient failure). Based on the results of our analyses we wili develop
the most likely fa.ilure scenario{s) and then prepare repair measures to restore the
embankment to operaring condition. a ures would be developed based
on the Colorado State Engineer's requ' .
Task 5 - Report '
We will prepare a report, signed by a Professional Engineer registered in the State of
Colorado, summarizing the results of our eld investigation, laboratory testing, stability
analyses, and our recommended repair plan.. We will also provide a construction cost
estimate for the repairs including 5na1 design and construction engineering costs.
4.2 SCOPE OPTIONS
We have summarized below several scope options. These include options requested by
Mr. Templeton (i.e., options for spillway enlazgement, outlet works camera inspection,
and raising the embanlanent 3-4 feet), and options that we believe are important in
developing a repair ta the dam, but were not specifically included in the scope
description provided by the Water Cornpa.ny. We would be happy to meet with the
Beaver Park Water Company Board to discuss the basic work scope and the scope
options presented below.
Woodwaed-Cyrde Consulqnts
23360/PR0.4 12-08-93(8:53ao/RPT -3
