f
During your inspection we pointed some of these needs out to you. I believe we pointed
out the small wash out between the bridge and the inlet which was cured with the addition of
about 9 yards of rip rap. This was a fairly minor item.
We needed to drill some weep holes in the wall at the lower end of the chute where the
splash water tended to pool. This has been completed and was also a fairly minor item.
The two more significant items was a wash out between the first drop structure and the
second drop structure. This was not unanticipated as the contractor and I specifically looked at
that even before we started running water and there was some concern about whether the dirt and
shale layers would hold. After running the water it was obvious we needed to take some
maintenance and remedial steps there and have done so. This is item 3 on the ARS estimate
which is a part of this letter.
The biggest item is additional rip rap down the channel from station 12+50 to 7+00.
Because of the channel flow around various lenses involving both native undisturbed channel as
well as channel that we had to modify, it was obvious that this channel was going to cause
ongoing problems and fairly significant annual maintenance activities. Thus it was decided to go
ahead and rip rap an additiona1550 feet and this is item 4 on the ARS estimate.
Attached is Exhibit A showing the items needed. to finish up the base project. These total
$9,200.00. Also, attached is Exhibit B which itemizes the additional expenses estimated to
complete the erosion repair and additional channel lining all totaling $131,919.00.
There is a summary on Exhibit B which adds these two categories together for a total of
$141,119.00. Donn Engel, our executive Secretary, tells me that we have approximately
$78,SOO.00 left in the original loan yet to be drawn upon. Thus, I subtracted that amount from the
total amount of additional funds and have shown a net shortage of $53,419.
Please consider this the request of WRCC, Inc. for an additional $55,000.00.
We thank you, your additional staff, and the Board for considering this request. If any
additional information would be helpful or needed please contact me immediately and we will
comply as quickly as possible.
Yours very truly,
MS/cw
Enclosure
THE DOW LAW FIRM, LLC
:%'?
Mayo StSmmermey
