SCOPE OF WORK
COLORADO DROUGHT AND WATER SUPPLY UPDATE
Project Goals
The 2007 Colorado Drought and Water Supply Update (CDWSU) will focus on municipal and
urban water providers and obtain new information on the current status of drought planning and
preparedness and drought water supply. Key areas to be focused on in survey questions through
this effort are:
1. What is the current state of drought response in Colorado (i.e. which entities are
experiencing and responding to drought in 2007)?
2. What is the current state of drought planning in Colorado?
3. How has drought planning and response changed since the last update (2003)?
4. What are water providers' needs (both structural and non - structural) for improving
drought planning and response in the future? How best can the State and CWCB
assist?
5. What is the current status of the 1177 basin roundtable process, particularly as it
relates to drought?
6. How are water providers collecting data and who are they reporting data to? What
are obstacles to collecting and reporting data?
7. Are water providers interested in supporting standard regional /statewide water
conservation metrics?
8. What conservation measures are water providers currently implementing?
9. Are water providers interested in "pre -fab" conservation programs and materials?
10. Are water providers interested in participating in a proposed State water data
repository project?
11. Are water providers interested in participating in a proposed statewide water
efficiency information/education campaign?
The 2003 Drought and Water Supply Update had a broader focus beyond municipal and urban
providers, but given the limited time and budget provided for this update a more targeted effort is
required.
The 2007 Colorado Drought and Water Supply Update will assemble data and results from other
recent related water supply evaluation efforts including the SWSI Phase 1 and Phase 2 study and
the 2003 drought and water supply effort to ensure the 2007 CDWSU has a broad enough scope
to be meaningful.
Research Team
The research team will be lead by Aquacraft, Inc. Water Engineering and Management of
Boulder, Colorado. Peter Mayer, P.E. will serve as the Project Manager. Other Aquacraft staff
