WORK PLAN — UPDATE TO SWSI SECTION 3
CWCB Project Manager: Kevin Reidy
Consultant: Aquacraft, Inc. and Headwaters Corporation
Project Goal
The goal of this project is to update the conservation section of the Statewide Water Supply
Initiative (SWSI) report for 2010.
Approach
The Aquacraft, Inc. and Headwaters Corporation Team ( "Consultant ") will prepare the water
conservation section of the 2010 SWSI update. As part of this update, the Consultant team will
analyze and update the projected conservation savings and penetration rates from SWSI II and
develop hypothetical conservation strategies to help meet the projected 2050 water supply
gap. The conservation section of the 2010 SWSI update will integrate past CWCB water
conservation work products, as well as the 2050 Demands report, the Best Practices Guide for
Water Conservation in Colorado' from Colorado WaterWise, and the SWSI Conservation Level
Analysis
Project Tasks
Task 1 - Update information on current state of water conservation in
Colorado
This task will update the section of the SWSI report that describes the current state of water
conservation in Colorado. The Consultant will make particular use of the SWSI Conservation
Level Analysis (to be completed in March) which includes a careful analysis of all conservation
plans submitted to the CWCB to date.
1.1- Prepare SWSI Water Conservation Overview
The overview will consist of the role of water conservation in past SWSI phases, how the
current update builds upon past efforts, how water conservation is characterized in this
update versus past efforts, and a brief description of anticipated water conservation
work to follow in the next few years.
1 A forthcoming project and document (due June 2010) from Colorado WaterWise that will describe the best water
conservation practices, along with the costs and savings potential of each, that can be utilized in Colorado.
http://www.xeriscape.org
Z Research being carried out by Great Western Institute (due early March 2010) to revisit the assumptions for the
water conservation levels from SWSI I and to reanalyze the savings associated with each level of water
conservation activities.
Aquacraft, Inc. 303- 786 -9691
Water Engineering and Management 303- 786 -8337 (fax)
Boulder, CO www.aquacraft.com
