At this time, the Recharge Ponds 1, 2, 3 and 5 along with the slough have been constructed.
• None of the other Recharge Facilities have been surveyed. Therefore, the maximum number of
surface acres associated with future Recharge Facilities and the number of surface acres as a
function of the depth of water in each future Recharge Facility is not defined. Prior to the
diversion of water into any Recharge Facility that has not been constructed as of the date of this
decree, CDOW shall provide the Water Commissioner, and all objectors, a copy of a diagram
depicting the location of the Recharge Facility, an estimate of the maximum number of surface
acres of the Recharge Facility, an area capacity table for the Recharge Facility and the
methodology by which this information was developed.
8.3 Evaporation Calculation.
The amount of water lost to evaporation shall be determined by multiplying the exposed water
surface area of each Recharge Facility by the rate of net evaporation for the days of exposed
water surface. CDOW will use real time net evaporation data. If data is unavailable, CDOW will
use the average net values, which are acre feet per acre of exposed surface area, in the following
table.
Month Jan Feb Mar Apr May Jun July Aug Sep Oct Nov Dec
AF /A 0.095 0.11 0.155 0.265 0.29 0.415 0.455 0.435 0.33 0.225 0.125 0.10
Real time net evaporation will be determined as follows, or by an alternative procedure that has
• received prior approval by the State Engineer. Site - specific data obtained from the Crook
weather station maintained by NCWCD will be used in the calculations. Gross pan evaporation
will be computed from published monthly data on the NCWCD web site by multiplying standard
alfalfa reference ETr by 1.2 (FAO Irrigation and Drainage Paper #24/56 - 1977/1998). Gross pan
evaporation will be multiplied by 0.7 to obtain gross Recharge Facility evaporation. Net
Recharge Facility evaporation in inches will be computed as gross pond evaporation minus
effective precipitation, where effective precipitation is total precipitation multiplied by 0.7.
•
20 !Page
