Gimbel <br />CWCB Director <br />& Drought Planning ( OWCDP) <br />Kevin Reidy, Water Conservation Technical Specialist <br />Office of Water Conservation & Drought Planning ( OWCDP) <br />DATE: August 11, 2010 <br />SUBJECT: Town of Firestone, SB 07 -008 Water Efficiency Grant Request <br />Summary of Grant ADDlication <br />The Office of Water Conservation & Drought Planning section ( OWCDP) received a Water <br />Efficiency grant application from the Town of Firestone, a covered entity located in the Northern <br />Colorado Front Range in Firestone, Colorado. The Town of Firestone has an approved Water <br />Conservation Plan on file with the OWCDP as of December, 2007. <br />The applicant is requesting $41,455 to aid in developing a high efficiency toilet and washing <br />machine rebate program to achieve water savings. The rebate program will be monitored and the <br />results will be documented and presented in a final report. One of the goals set forth in that plan <br />is to reduce residential water use by 4.7% over a ten -year planning horizon. The Town predicts <br />that this measure will achieve 12% or 16.6 acre feet of its Residential goal. <br />The applicant has demonstrated their financial ability to provide 30% of the total project budget <br />with matching funds in the form of $6,000 in monetary contributions and $12,130.98, in -kind <br />contributions. Staff has reviewed and evaluated the grant application and has determined that the <br />proposal meets or exceeds the CWCB guidelines for reviewing grant proposals. <br />Recommendation: <br />The OWCDP staff recommends that Jennifer Gimbel, Director of the CWCB, authorize $41,455 <br />to the Town of Firestone to develop a high efficiency toilet and washing machine rebate program <br />to assist with meeting their targeted water savings goals outlined within their Water <br />Conservation Plan. <br />Attachment: Evaluation Checklist <br />Interstate & Federal • Watershed & Flood Protection • Stream & Lake Protection • Finance <br />Water Information • Water Conservation & Drought Planning • Water Supply Planning <br />
