TERMINOLOGY AND A$BREVIATLONS <br />Acre Foot -- One acre of water one foot deep. (326,700 gallons) <br />Average Day Demand -- Average daily consumption as determined from total <br />annual consumption. <br />c.f.s. -- Cubic feet per second. <br />Distribution System -- A network of pipelines for the distribution of <br />finished water to all parts of the city. <br />Finished Water -- Chemically treated and filtered water. <br />Floc -- A gelatinous mass formed by chemical addition to enmesh solid <br />impurities in water and allow them to be settled out. <br />gpcd. Gallons per capita per day. <br />gpd. -- Gallons per day. <br />gym. -- Gallons per minute. <br />M.G. -- Million Gallons. <br />M.G.D. -- Million gallons per day. <br />Maximum Day Demand -- Amount of water used on maximum demand day. <br />Maximum Hour Demand -- Maximum water consumption rate during short period <br />during a maximum day. <br />psi -- Pounds per square inch. <br />Raw Water -- Untreated water as received from source. <br />
