' GRIT CHAMBER (Figure 5) This unit is theoretically capable of handling
' 8 MGD with a retention time of 18 minutes although it is suspected that the
actual time of retention is somewhat less, due to "short- circuiting" of
' fluid streams. It is our belief that the flow through this unit can be
' increased to 10 MGD without seriously effecting the operational qualities
after the new grit chamber is constructed.
