enmeshed impurities to settle out.
The settled water now is transported from the basins to the rapid sand
filters. The original filter building contains six such filters. At'a
later date, an old settling pond site was used to construct the concrete
shells for eight additional filters of approximately the same size. These
units have been fitted with the necessary piping, valves and other appurten-
ances as additional filters were required. At the present time six of the
eight available units are fitted for service. There are no automatic or
semi- automatic controls on any filters in the Loveland system.
Filtered water is collected in a clear -well and from there piped to
town through the transmission system. A large - volume booster pump has been
installed on the clear -well effluent to increase the capacity of these
finished water transmission lines. A newly installed Spariing propeller type
meter measures the plant effluent and furnishes a continuous record of water
produced.
CAPACITY AND CONDITION OF PLANT UNITS
INTAKE STRUCTURE (Figure 2) This concrete structure appears to be in
excellent condition and has an intake capacity far in excess of the future
requirements discussed in this report.
- 28 -
