POPULATION DENVER METRO AREA 1/
In the past 25 years the Denver Metro Area has grown at a faster rate
than either the State or the U.S., and this trend is expected to continue
for the next 35 years.
On January 1, 1965, the six - county Metro Area accounted for 54 percent
of the total State's population compared to 40 percent in 1940, and 35
percent in 1900. In the year 2000, 65 percent of the State's population
will be concentrated in the Denver Metro Area if present projections
prove valid.
In 1960 the Denver Metropolitan Statistical Area was the twenty -sixth
largest in the U. S. In 1963 it moved up to the twenty -fifth largest.
