average length of the growing season is 144 days, and the average annual <br />precipitation is 14. 19 inches, of which approximately 8 inches falls during <br />the growing season, <br />Land Classification, The soils of the area are typical of those found <br />in the semiarid parts of the Great Plains Region, Their productivity potential <br />range from high to moderately low. Of the 41, 720 acres of irrigable land, <br />38 per cent was Class 1, 32 per cent Class 2, 26 per cent Class 3, and 4 per <br />cent Class 40 <br />Land Use The farms under the North Poudre Irrigation System are <br />engaged almost entirely in agricultural enterprises, with livestock and field <br />crop farms predominating, <br />Future Land Use. No appreciable change ir, anticipated in crop dis- <br />tribution in the future other than the benefits to be derived from supplemental <br />water and more efficient use of the existing water, <br />Land Ownership, The 10, 000 shares of stock in the company are held <br />by 324 individual shareholders. These stockholders, either individually or <br />in partnerships, own a total of 308 holdings that are presently being irrigated. <br />The average of these holdings is approximately 110 acres, Of the 308 holdings, <br />there are 8 in which individual ownership exceeds 160 acres, The total number <br />of irrigated acres in excess of 160 acres in a single ownership and to which <br />interest must be charged is 2, 730 acres, or 8, 078% of the total lands irrigated, <br />Rights -of -Way Approximately 320 acres of land will be purchased by <br />the company for the project, of which 314 acres will be for the dam and reservoir, <br />and 6 acres for the relocation of the existing county road, <br />Sm2 <br />
