- 1 - <br />WATERSHED WORK PLAN <br />14EST CHERRY CREEK WATERSHED <br />E1 Paso and Douglas Counties, Colorado <br />July, 1958 <br />SUMMARY OF PLAN <br />General <br />The watershed work plan for watershed protection and flood prevention for <br />the West Cherry Creek Watershed, Colorado, was prepared with technical <br />assistance provided by the United States Department of Agriculture. This <br />plan is a combination of land treatment and structural measures which <br />will contribute directly to soil and water conservation, watershed protection, <br />and flood prevention. <br />The watershed work plan covers an area of approximately 49 square miles <br />or 31060 acres in El Paso and Douglas Counties, Colorado, Approximately <br />9.6 per cent of the watershed is cropland; 72 per cent is grassland; <br />16.5 per cent is forest and brush; and 1.9 per cent miscellaneous usage <br />such as stream channels, roads, schools, and farmsteads. No irrigation <br />developments and no channel realignments are involved. <br />The work plan proposes a five -year project for the protection and develop- <br />ment of the watershed at a total estimated installation cost of $462,347. <br />The Public Law 566 share of this cost will be 020036. The other share <br />of the cost will be $142,011. In addition, local interests will bear <br />the entire cost of operation and maintenance with a capitalized value <br />of `535,451. Of this total project cost of $5497,798, the Public Law 566 <br />share will be $320,336, and the other share including capitalized value <br />of operation and maintenance will be $177,462. The structural installation <br />period will be two years. Structural and land treatment measures will be <br />planned and applied in compliance with Colorado State Laws. <br />
