- 1 -
WATERSHED WORK PLAN
14EST CHERRY CREEK WATERSHED
E1 Paso and Douglas Counties, Colorado
July, 1958
SUMMARY OF PLAN
General
The watershed work plan for watershed protection and flood prevention for
the West Cherry Creek Watershed, Colorado, was prepared with technical
assistance provided by the United States Department of Agriculture. This
plan is a combination of land treatment and structural measures which
will contribute directly to soil and water conservation, watershed protection,
and flood prevention.
The watershed work plan covers an area of approximately 49 square miles
or 31060 acres in El Paso and Douglas Counties, Colorado, Approximately
9.6 per cent of the watershed is cropland; 72 per cent is grassland;
16.5 per cent is forest and brush; and 1.9 per cent miscellaneous usage
such as stream channels, roads, schools, and farmsteads. No irrigation
developments and no channel realignments are involved.
The work plan proposes a five -year project for the protection and develop-
ment of the watershed at a total estimated installation cost of $462,347.
The Public Law 566 share of this cost will be 020036. The other share
of the cost will be $142,011. In addition, local interests will bear
the entire cost of operation and maintenance with a capitalized value
of `535,451. Of this total project cost of $5497,798, the Public Law 566
share will be $320,336, and the other share including capitalized value
of operation and maintenance will be $177,462. The structural installation
period will be two years. Structural and land treatment measures will be
planned and applied in compliance with Colorado State Laws.
