Durango (5) and is supported by the Decision Support Problem that is shown in Appendix
1. This DSP is an effective tool for evaluating a particular design in the presence of many,
varied, constraints.
These two sites were then presented to the City of Durango at a public meeting on February
13, 2006 where the advantages and disadvantages of each site were debated. Following input
from the public, the Division of Wildlife, and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers it was
decided, by the Animas River Task Force, to recommend to the City that improvements be
made at the Smelter Boating Park. It was also agreed that improvements at this site be
extended downstream to include additional structures that are of a similar nature to those
proposed at the Schneider site. The design shown in this report represents the current
design at the Smelter Boating Park.
LL9
