THE WATERSHED PROGRAM IN COLORADO (Pilot and Public Law 566) <br />October, 1967 <br />Applications (PL 566) <br />Seventy applications for assistance have been received by the State Soil <br />Conservation Board. A status report of the -applications is attached. <br />Among the seventy applications are four duplications. <br />Twenty-four of the 66 are approved for detailed planning leading to a work plan. <br />Thirteen of the 24 are now authorized for installation. These are the West <br />Cherry Creek, Wray, Coalbank Creek, Fishers Peak-Carbon Arroyos, Roatcap Wash, <br />Limon, Big Sandy Creek, Franktown-Parker, Vineland, Indian Wash, Home Supply, <br />Pine River and Louden Watersheds. All but the Vineland are under construction <br />with 10 completed. Nine of the 24 have been suspended or terminated, 7 of <br />which were feasible but local sponsors would not accept proposal or could not <br />assure land rights. Running Creek has been reactivated with sponsors working <br />on easements for alternate sites and the Canon Watershed Work Plan is now in <br />the draft review process. <br />Twenty-one applications in addition to those listed above have undergone brief <br />preliminary investigation or field examination. Fourteen have been suspended <br />or terminated with 4 of these being not feasible. Type I surveys include both the Upper Colorado <br />Region and the Platte and Republican portions of the Missouri Basin in Colorado, <br />
